Applying for asylum 

We are NOT taking new asylum cases at this time.

Asylum is a form of protection that allows individuals who are in Charlotte NC or in any other states to remain in America, provided that they meet the definition of a refugee and are not barred from either applying for or being granted asylum, and eventually to adjust their status to lawful permanent resident.Our Charlotte immigration law firm assists individuals, as well as other people throughout the United States, to file for asylum.

Who can file for asylum?

Every year, thousands of people immigrate to the United States in need of protection because they have been persecuted or fear they will be persecuted on account of their:

  • Race
  • Religion
  • Nationality
  • Political Opinion
  • Membership in a particular social group

Those who are in Charlotte or in the United States in general and wish to apply for asylum must do so before the first anniversary of their entry to the U.S.

Frivolous asylum application

Applicants determined to have knowingly made a frivolous application for asylum will be permanently ineligible for any benefits under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). You may not avoid a frivolous finding simply because someone advised you to provide false information in your asylum application.      We are NOT taking new asylum cases at this time.
